Protein Ranch Dressing

So, generally I make protein recipes as more of the sweet/treat option. But, it happens that BulkNutrients also have their soy, rice and pea protein range, perfect for savoury protein recipes. And I couldn’t wait to give them a go.

I would think that pea and rice protein would be fairly interchangeable. Soy protein, as I haven’t playing with that one to much yet, I won’t give my opinion.

Today’s recipe was a ranch dressing. I served it with clean lamb burgers, sweet potato and a fresh beetroot salsa. I would generally also add minted mashed peas, however after consulting my freezer found I was out!

Other meals this ranch would work great in is with your eggs and toast, on top of tacos, as a dressing for a salad and inside salad wraps.

The Ranch Dressing

1tsp cumin
1tsp salt
pepper to taste
1/2tsp oregano
2tbsp lime juice
5 mint leaves or some mint paste
1tbsp lemon juice
1/2tsp honey
2 crushed garlic cloves
2tsp coriander
3 spring onions, chopped
1/2 ripe avocado
1/2 chilli, seed removed
4 sundried tomatoes (optional)
250g greek yogurt, or natural
1/2 scoop (15g) rice or pea protein

Add all your chilli, spices, avocado, onions, sundried tomatoes, garlic, juices and herbs and blend to combined.
Add your yogurt and protein and blend for a couple of minutes till well combined.
Season to taste.
Keep in mind, savoury recipes can be altered to taste preference much easier than baking. So if you like it hot, add a whole chilli, with the seeds. You could also add some lime and lemon zest for more zing.

My Lamb burgers Recipe:
500g lamb mince
tbsp coriander paste or fresh
salt and pepper
1 red onion finely diced
tbsp mint paste or fresh
Combine all these ingredients together and shape into your desired sized patties. Cook in a hot pan.

Beetroot Salsa
1x 425g beetroot, diced into cubes
1/2 red onion finely diced
2tsp cumin
1tsp coriander, ground or fresh
1/4 of a lemon juice
2tsp mint paste
salt and pepper
Toss all the ingredients together to coat and combine. Set aside ready for use.

Mashed minted Peas
1-2c peas
mint paste to taste
organic butter
salt and pepper
Simply bring some water to the boil and cook the peas till ready. drain, add your other ingredients and mash! so yummy

Basically all these components can be made in advance. Making it super easy to just come home and put it together!

If you want to, add a bun for a real burger. Or bake some sweet potato chips!
